The Redevelopment Authority is the managing agent for eight elderly housing facilities, totaling 509 units, in Washington County. Two are located in Canonsburg, two in Charleroi, one in Washington, one in California, one in Burgettstown and one in Claysville. Canon House Highrise for the Elderly is located at 121 North Central Avenue in Canonsburg. Char House Highrise for the Elderly is located at 251 Ninth Street in Charleroi. Liberty Tower Highrise for the Elderly is located at 520 Liberty Street in California. Canon House, Char House and Liberty are federally subsided, Section 8 housing facilities with 104 units per building. Each one bedroom unit has a balcony, an equipped kitchen, and temperature controlled heating/cooling unit. Residents must be at least 62 years of age or persons with disabilities and able to pay 30% of their monthly gross income for rent and utilities. Burgettstown Apartments for the Elderly is a three story building with 24 one bedroom units located at 100 Highrise Way in Burgettstown. Claysville Apartments for the Elderly is a three story building with 24 one bedroom units located at 103 Green Street in Claysville. Canon Apartments for the Elderly is a four story building with 42 one bedroom units located at One West College Street in Canonsburg. Crest Avenue Apartments for the Elderly is a four story building with 42 one bedroom units located at 500 Crest Avenue in Charleroi. Century Plaza Apartments for the Elderly is a two story building with 65 one bedroom units located at 1880 West Chestnut Street in Washington. *All facilities offer elevator access, indoor mail delivery (except Claysville Apts), laundry facility, on-site management and maintenance.
