Community Development Block Grant Recovery Funds

Notice is hereby given that the County of Washington will be applying to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a Substantial Amendment under the Community Development Block Grant Recovery Program (CDGB-R). The CDBG-R was established under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ("Recovery Act") which was signed into law on February 17, 2009. Under this program, the County will be receiving a total of $1,151,729. These funds will be expended on eligible CDBG activities that benefit low and moderate income persons and/or eliminate slums and blight.


The County intends to submit its 2009 CDBG-R Substantial Amendment application to the HUD-Pittsburgh office on or before June 5, 2009. Prior to approval of the funding application by the Washington County Board of Commissioners on June 4, 2009, the County will obtain the views of citizens, public agencies, and other interested parties for a period of seven (7) days as required by the federal regulations of this program. The County will place copies of its 2009 CDBG-R Substantial Amendment on display from May 27, 2009 to June 2, 2009 on the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington’s website at www.racw.net and at the following locations:


1.   Office of the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington, 100 West Beau Street, Suite 603, Washington, PA 15301

2.  Donora Municipal Building, 603 Meldon Avenue, Donora, PA 15033

3.  Canonsburg Municipal Building, 68 East Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317


Detailed information on specific proposed activities is contained in the 2009 CDBG-R Substantial Amendment on display at the locations noted above. Written comments on the Substantial Amendment should be submitted to the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington, 100 West Beau Street, Suite 603, Washington, PA 15301, Attention Brenda Williamson by June 2, 2009. The Washington County Board of Commissioners will consider and take action on the Substantial Amendment at their regularly scheduled meeting of June 4, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in Public Meeting Room 104, Courthouse Square Office Building, 100 West Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
