Detroit Street

On November 8, 2004 the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington purchased the site of the former Ball Glass Plant in the City of Washington, Pennsylvania from the Detroit Street Partners.  The site is located at Detroit Street, which can be accessed from East Maiden Street.  The Redevelopment Authority is moving forward to redevelop the site to provide a positive financial impact to the City of Washington and the surrounding areas.   The site has been given Act 2 clearance.

The site is 11.5 acres of which 8.7 are cleared from prior use and 2.8 are covered with vegetation that provide privacy for the site.  The site is located approximately 2 miles east of the heart of Washington about 300 feet from East Maiden Street (U.S. Route 19 and 40).  Access to Interstate 79 is 3 miles away via East Maiden Street.  The site has direct access to CSX railroad through two spurs that enter the site.  The site has two city streets to provide motor vehicle ingress and egress.

The land is relatively level, has access roads throughout the site and all utilities are existing.  Two buildings remain in usable condition and may be renovated into productive space.   The first is a prior warehouse of 28,288 sq. ft. and the second is a former processing building of 46,258 sq. ft.

The site has signage space right of way available along the heavily traveled East Maiden Street, which serves a connector for both U.S. Route 19 and 40.
