Main Street Programs

Canonsburg Borough
Canonsburg is poised to take advantage of its location as well as its heritage. In conjunction with downtown improvements including a new library already under way, Canonsburg intends to utilize the Main Street Community designation to further promote and capitalize on its rich musical heritage, unique architecture and intense community involvement. It will also solidify the downtown area as the hub of community involvement. With that said, we would use these ideas to attract new business downtown, encourage more community activity, and make it an attractive center for tourism. All of the work and planning will be done in conjunction with the Canonsburg Renaissance, Inc. and with the support of the borough council, chamber, and the community at large.

Charleroi Borough
The goal of the Charleroi’s Main Street Program is to preserve, promote and enhance the downtown business district. This will help the downtown attract and retain viable businesses in the community. Also its partnership with the Mid Mon Valley Transportation Authority presents a viable residential element by providing transportation to the surrounding area and across county lines. However, most importantly, downtown will be an attractive, safe environment for the residential and business community partners to live, work, learn, shop, worship, and play. The Borough, businesses, chamber, and the community have partnered together to promote these ideal to preserve the historic qualities and quaintness of the district.

City of Washington
The goal of the City of Washington’s Main Street Program is to preserve, promote and enhance the downtown business district. This will help continue the City’s vital role in southwestern Pennsylvania’s growing tourism efforts and the City’s role as the county seat. However, most importantly, downtown will be an attractive, safe environment for the residential and business community partners to live, work, learn, shop, worship, and play. The City, business, chamber, Redevelopment Authority, and the community have partnered together to promote these ideal and keep the historic qualities and quaintness of the district.
