Welcome to the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington

Established in 1956, the Redevelopment Authority administers the Federal Community Development Block Grant, Home Investment Partnerships, and American Dream Downpayment Initiative Programs for the County of Washington.  The Redevelopment Authority also manages six elderly residential facilities, which it developed and promotes economic development. 
 
Located in the City of Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania, the Redevelopment Authority provides a variety of programs for County residents, including a Home Rehabilitation Program, Homebuyer Assistance Program, and Access Program, which provides home modification assistance for accessibility needs.  Additionally, the Redevelopment Authority offers a number of business loan programs including a Revolving Loan Fund, Incentive Loan Fund, and Mid Mon Valley Enterprise Zone Revolving Loan Fund.

Community Development Block Grant Recovery Funds

May 26, 2009

Notice is hereby given that the County of Washington will be applying to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a Substantial Amendment under the Community Development Block Grant Recovery Program (CDGB-R). The CDBG-R was established under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ("Recovery Act") which was signed into law on February 17, 2009. Under this program, the County will be receiving a total of $1,151,729. These funds will be expended on eligible CDBG activities that benefit low and moderate income persons and/or eliminate slums and blight.

Local Share Account Check Presentations

May 22, 2009

On May 21, 2009, the Washington County Board of Commissioners presented checks in the amounts of $166,000 to officials from the Avella Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD), $100,000 to Board Members of the Burgettstown Area Community Development Corporation and officials from Burgettstown Borough, and $100,000 to officials from Deemston Borough, as part of the Washington County Local Share Account Program.

Draft FY 2009 Washington County Action Plan

The Redevelopment Authority has prepared the County of Washington’s draft FY 2009 Action Plan. The Action Plan is a comprehensive, integrated approach to planning and implementing the County’s housing, community development, and economic development priority activities.

East Maiden Street Parcel Available

January 22, 2009


The Redevelopment Authority is currently marketing a piece of property on East Maiden Street in the City of Washington at the Detroit Street Industrial Site. The parcel is .3764 of an acre and has all utilities at the site.

Multi-Municipal Comprehensive Plan Wins Award

January 16, 2009

The City of Monongahela and New Eagle Borough jointly developed a Multi-Municipal Comprehensive Plan that won the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association's 2008 Award for Planning Excellence.

2009-2010 Washington County Local Share Account (LSA) Program

The Washington County Local Share Account (LSA) supports community and economic development. LSA is available annually and funded by gaming revenues, which are distributed through grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. An entity that desires to request 2009-10 funds from the Washington County LSA will provide information as detailed in the 2009-10 Funding Request Information Packet. All requests for 2009-10 LSA funding must be received by the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington no later than 5:00 P.M. on November 14, 2008. Questions can be directed to the Redevelopment Authority at (724) 228-6875.

Washington County Homebuyer Assistance Program

The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington has established the Homebuyer Assistance Program to assist first-time homebuyers in attaining their goal of home ownership by providing financial assistance for the purchase and rehabilitation of eligible housing units.

The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington has secured funding to provide home rehabilitation assistance for eight (8) homes in the Highland Ridge neighborhood as defined as the geographical area within the recorded Redevelopment Plan.
